Things to Do in Delaware: Have You Been Here Yet?

Things to do in Delaware most likely will include water since this state is so close to the ocean. There are various options available and if camping is on your list, this is an activity that has various destinations available. One of these is Cape Henlopen State Park. This park has a variety of adventures waiting for you. From the Seaside Nature Center to swimming, hiking and fishing, staying at one of these campsites will allow you to do it all.

In addition, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach are not far from Cape Henlopen. Similar activities are found here with the addition of jet skiing, boating, wind surfing, water skiing, sailing and bandstand concerts at Rehoboth Beach. The fun is just beginning when you decide to check out the number of beaches that are what brings thousands of visitors to this area every year.

Add Fenwick Island State Park to the list of things to do in Delaware and you can enjoy the solitude here without the crowds that are present on the other beaches. This is three miles of beaches on a barrier island and the Fenwick Island Lighthouse is located here and has been in use since 1858.

The lighthouse originally used whale oil to generate light and then kerosene; however today it has joined the rest of the world and uses electricity. If you want to visit the Fenwick Island Lighthouse, it is open from May 1st through Columbus Day except for Wednesdays. The bottom contains a museum where you can see a little of the history of the lighthouse and surrounding area.

Many more things to do in Delaware await. Jungle Jim’s River Safari Water Park is a great place for adults and kids. This is not a large water park like many but they have two mini-golf courses, go cart tracks, rock climbing, bumper boats and batting cages as well. The uphill coaster has many fun things for the kids and adults as well.

One place you may want to include on your list of things to do in Delaware is Wicked R Western Productions, Inc. More than 60 acres allow visitors a whole host of activities and more. There are riding lessons so if you have never ridden a horse, now is the time to learn. You will not believe how much fun this is for kids and adults alike.

In addition, the Wicked R has attractions at different times of the year, such as Weekend Family Fall Fun. There are Women’s Ranch Retreats, Cowboy 101, birthday parties, Dude Ranch Camps and they will do their best to fulfill custom requests for events as well. Company parties and field trips are some of the special requests they receive.

Take a look at historic Little Italy. This is one of the places you will enjoy with the history that is present here. The number of restaurants available here will give you the choice of a wide variety of ethnic foods. Check out some of the old churches while in this vicinity. The area contains brick sidewalks, new lamps and you can continue on and peruse the Little Italy archway.
