Places to Visit in NYC: Come See the Big Apple

If you have never been, there are many places to visit in NYC that will be on your list of sights to see. One thing everyone wants to see is the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge spans the East River and is the first suspension bridge made from steel in the world. Many people walk across the bridge for the view it provides of NYC.

Do you know how many people live in the U.S. and have never been to New York City? The Big Apple is the place where millions of people go each year to see such sights as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. For art lovers, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art are located here.

Of course, another must-see is Central Park. Part of the park was open for public access in 1861 while the rest was still under construction. Although it was allowed to become somewhat of an eyesore in the 1970s, major renovations were done in the 1980s and the park has once again become a great place to spend time. The park is visited by 25 million people every year.

Lincoln Center should be on your list of places to visit in NYC. This is located between 62nd Street and 66th Street. This is the largest center for performing arts in the world. The Central Fountain Plaza is in the midst of three of the main attractions. The Metropolitan Opera House is where the American Ballet Theater and the Metropolitan Opera are performed.

The Empire State Building is one of the most popular places to visit in NYC with approximately 15,000 people per day touring this structure. The awesome thing about the building is although it has 102 floors, you only have to get to the 82nd floor to be able to see the entire city of New York.

Another place you will want to visit, not having been to New York, is Grand Central Station. This is not just a means to access the trains. It is a bevy of shops, florists, art galleries, restaurants and boutiques. The station was built in 1913 and there is no admission to enter Grand Central Station.

Central Park is another famous icon in the Big Apple. This park is over 800 acres and there is plenty to do here. The Central Park Zoo is one and many people choose to go on a gondola ride on the lake. The Metropolitan Opera in the Park or Philharmonic in the Park both hold concerts that you may want to attend. There are two restaurants located in the park and many concession stands as well along the walkways.

When figuring out all the places to visit in NYC, you will need to take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry. This is a tour you will not want to miss. The 20 minute to 30 minute ride across the harbor in New York will allow you one of the best views of Manhattan and the beautiful skyline. In addition, you can also see the Statue of Liberty. This is a ride you will definitely want to take while enjoying your visit to NYC.
