• Valley of Fire State Park – The largest and oldest state park in Nevada, Valley of Fire is about an hour drive from Las Vegas. The visitor center has information and exhibits on the geology and history of the park, and visitors can pick up maps to help them find Bee Hive Rocks, Arch Rocks and The Cabins.

• Rhyolite Ghost Town – Once a mining town with 10,000 residents, more than 50 saloons and 18 grocery stores, Rhyolite is now a true ghost town with no permanent residents. The Cook Bank ruin is one of the most photographed buildings in Nevada. There are signs to explain the history of the town and give details about buildings and ruins, but there are no guided tours.
