California is one of the most interesting states out there, and for a variety of reasons. There are plenty of fun places to visit in California, especially since it covers a large area of the west coast bringing a whole array of seasons to it. It has tropical temperatures perfect for year-long sunbathing in Southern California and snow-capped mountains and natural vistas up north. Along the middle is an area of the state called the Grapevine which includes some of the finest wineries in the entire United States. There is such a vast array of fun things to do that no traveler could even begin to delve into them from just one visit.

Disneyland
Although there is a Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida there is nothing else out there quite like Disneyland. This is definitely one of the single most fun places to visit in California. People with kids or a kid-like sense of imagination should make Disneyland and their new Disney's California Adventure park one of the more imperative stops in any California trip. Why? The various lands (Tomorrow Land, etc) lead you through a whole maze of adventure rides, and great food and cool characters to give visitors an experience like they will not get anywhere else.
Santa Monica Pier The Santa Monica pier is one of the most over-looked gems in Southern California. This is a large pier that has a whole bunch of things to do on it, some of which can keep any person busy for a couple of days with the right dedication. Awesome carnival rides, great food, a romantic Ferris wheel and white sandy beaches make Santa Monica pier a great stop for any person or even a whole family. There is no shortage of things to do on the pier, from hilarious performers and musicians peddling for money, wares for sale, caricature drawing, and games not to mention rides and beautiful vistas; the Pier is a fabulous stop in California, and could definitely be classified as one of the most fun places to visit in California.
The State Capitol These days, the State Capitol is where Arnold Schwarzenegger spends the more grueling hours of his day. Located in Sacramento, this is an awesome building, with a lot to see on the inside as far as how California government and legislation is carried out. It may sound boring to the kids and not seem like one of the more interesting places to visit in California but even they will be entertained when it comes to all of the cool things the California capital building has to offer.
San Simeon Up towards the north, there is a beach called San Simeon with camping grounds surrounding the area. If you go at the right time of year, you could get to experience the awesomeness that is elephant seals. If you have ever seen them on TV then you know what interesting animals these San Simeon elephant seals are, but be careful not to get too close! You might see others getting brave, but these seals move faster than you would ever think to, and they could cause you some serious harm.
